I'm a graduate student of history at the University of North Florida. I recently started work my thesis. I plan to write an environmental history of Florida, with a focus on a Dr. Kathryn Abbey Hanna. She was a pioneering historian who taught at Florida State College for Women (FSU) and Rollins College. I'm interested in GIS and the use of digital history in traditional scholarship, but also in creating innovative learning environment by using digital tools. I plan to go onto a Ph.D program that will allow me to work with Environmental and Digital History.
When I'm not working on my own scholarship, I'm a graduate teaching assistant, a volunteer at the local archives, and I'm an officer for the Phi Alpha Theta chapter at UNF. History is my passion and I spend a lot of my time mentoring other students and sharing history with anyone who wants to discuss it.
Believe it or not, I'm painfully shy and quiet, but a number of my classmates and I have built a stronger history community within our area. According to my colleagues, I'm the "brave introvert."
